Histiocytosis X

Description.

Histiocytosis X is a complex disease characterised by the proliferation of histopathies with macrophage capacity. There are localised forms and disguised forms.

The condition occurs at any age and accompanies bone localisation (pain, swelling, fracture), visceral-pulmonary, lymphatic, hepatic.

Disseminating form may be acute with fever, dyspnea, rash and multiple or chronic visceral localisation characterised by triad: exophthalmia, insipid diabetes, skull osteolytic lesions.

The anatomopathological substrate is eosinophilic granuloma.

Histiocytosis X treatment consists of

  • surgical curettage,
  • radiotherapy,
  • corticotherapy,
  • chemotherapy.
